...a monkey and a computer...

So, where exactly do old homepages go to die? Some end up in The WayBack Machine, which is not such a bad place to be. Some end up in /dev/null, a place no one should ever go.

If you're me, they end up in a zip file, sitting on a CD until they are called back into service. Which is what this section is all about. The monstrosities I created before kohlbeck.org.

I tried to make all the internal links work, and most of them do. Chances are external links don't work, since most of the sites no longer exist. I did remove all mailto's and such, because those addresses don't work. Except for all that, these pages are pretty much the way they were, way back in the mid-90's. Yay for the mid-90's.

UPL - Aaron's House of Style
The first place I ever set up a webpage was the Undergraduate Projects Lab. Their mission: "to provide an environment for undergraduate students who wish to enhance their knowledge of computers through independent personal projects". My mission: set up a webpage and try not to get kicked out of the UPL. I told them I was teaching myself perl, something I still have not done.

Anyway, the thing I like the most about this page, aside from the snazzy background, is the line at the top that says you should use Netscape 1.12 or better. Ahh, Netscape 1.12.

CAE - Aaron's House of Style
While I was working at the Computer & Media Center, I happened to get a job at Computer Aided Engineering. I was the only non-engineering student that worked there, but I was familiar with CAE, having spent 2+ years as an engineer.

There were two major versions of the my homepage at CAE. When I first started there, I just moved the House of Style over, but made the background black and added blinking to the logo. I did move over my first and second attempts at photoshopping, Evolution of a Dork and my head on Everlast's body from House of Pain. I could do so much better now.

CAE - The abandoned house
An abandoned concept played on the whole Aaron's House of Style. I made a house. But people were creeped out by the 'window to my soul' section title, so it was dropped.

CAE - Aaron's Kwik-e-Mart of Love
After spending entirely too much time making a sliding door graphic, the Kwik-e-Mart of Love opened for business. No one really cared. The only comment I got, and I got it quite regularly, was a question about why the shelves were empty. To this day, I don't know.

The only addition to this page over the old House of Style is the rants section, which still makes me laugh. But for all the wrong reasons.

Pathetica - The Original Official Homepage
So, I made an attempt at a Pathetica homepage, but Al Bonney did it first. He doesn't know I have his web files from that time. Well, he might know if he reads this page.

That's It
Yes, I was lame. And probably still am.
